Launched by the Beaujolais, early wines (primeurs) are
now produced by other regions: Côtes-du-Rhône,
Anjou, Gaillac, Muscadet, Touraine.
The Touraine primeur is trying to make a name for
itself in France and on an international scale. The Touraine
primeur still retains a regional image, and most of its
sales are local.
An advertising campaign organized by the Touraine Wine
Committee was created to encourage new consumers to try
these wines along with other regional products.
The advantage of these early wines is their flexibility -
they are a pleasure to drink with friends during a meal of
cold meats.
